2009: A Year To Remember
The year 2009 held many changes for the Daly Clan. Jimmy and Michael bought a new home. Evelyn and Jim welcomed another “grandchild” to the clan, Jim recovered from his open heart surgery and completed his studies at Indian River State College. Michael has enrolled at IRSC to pursue his bachelor’s degree. Jimmy has continued his amateur acting career appearing in several presentations at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild.

Michael

Michael continues his nursing career at the Holmes Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. He works 12-hour shifts, from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. During his “time off”, Mike is taking courses at the college to eventually earn his bachelor’s degree in nursing. His long-range goal is to become an advanced nurse practitioner (ARNP). A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) who has completed advanced education and training in the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions, including chronic illnesses.

Jimmy

The real estate business in Florida reflects the real estate market throughout the United States While housing sales seem to be improving, the majority of Jimmy’s working hours is devoted to managing property for various clients of Coldwell Banker Schlitt Realtors in Indian River County. As mentioned above, Jimmy continues to act in various productions put on at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild. He is a familiar face at VBTG as a board member and the recipient of multiple Genie awards. Jim appeared most recently in Cabaret as Herr Schultz.

O'Malley

O’Malley is the newest member of the Daly Clan. He is a Morkie, a cross between a Maltese and a Yorkshire Terrier. O’Malley is the brother of Jasmine, both have the same parents, but they’re from a different litter. O’Malley marches to his own drumbeat, but he is a loveable, little, frisky puppy whom his parents and grandparents love without reservation.
Mike-Jim Celebrate 16 And Move

This past July saw Jimmy and Michael celebrating their 16th year together as loving partners. They met in Portland, Maine in the early 90s, moving to Marathon, Florida, in the Keys, then to Miami, and finally to Vero Beach. In March of this year, Mike and Jim bought a home in the same neighborhood as Jim’s parents and now live around the corner. Shades of “Everyone Loves Raymond” they can now keep tabs on their parents (Ev and Jim have “adopted” Mike) and vice versa. So far, there’s been no bloodshed.
Jasmine

Jasmine’s picture is in this newsletter because her grandmother, Evelyn, insisted on putting her in. Jazz has had a busy year trying to teach her brother, O’Malley, how to act like a civilized puppy.
Evelyn

Evelyn has joined the Walker’s Glen Homeowners Association Social Committee and was involved in the planning and arrangements for the annual Christmas Party, the fall picnic and the monthly ladies’ luncheons. She continues to participate in the Sebastian (FL) Craft Club as well as the Palm Lake Club Saturday coffee klatches. She loves her role as grandmother and baby sitter to Jazz and O’Malley, the newest addition to the family.

Jim
Jim graduated from the Medical Assistant Program at Indian River State College and is actively seeking part-time employment. He is still president of the Walker’s Glen Homeowners Association and is the webmaster for the association’s web site, www.walkersglen.org. In addition, Jim is the creator and webmaster for three other web sites, www.medella.info, www.latitude2739.com and ysfirc.org. The medella site is a collection of healthcare information designed for students, instructors and workers. The other two sites belong to the Youth Sailing Foundation of Indian River County, Inc. This organization is devoted to helping young boys and girls learn all about sailing, fair play, good citizenship and having fun doing it.
Judy RIP

Judy left us for her eternal home in feline heaven this past year.. For 22+ years she gave the Dalys comfort, love and companionship. She was a loving cat and her love was returned ten-fold by all members of the clan. She is missed very much.
Holiday Wishes From Ev and Jim

We wish our family and friends a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, healthy and prosperous 2010 filled with love. We pray for the safe return of the brave men and women of our armed forces. Our prayers are also offered for president, Barack Obama, that he may lead our country out of the present economic difficulties and bring the wars in the middle east to a swift and honorable end.
