FLORIDA HURRICANES

Florida was hit by four major hurricanes in 2004. Two of them hit the city of Sebastian, on the east coast of Florida, where the Dalys live. On Sunday, September 5, 2004, Hurricane Frances came ashore and on Saturday, September 25, 2004, Hurricane Jeanne hit Florida. The Dalys` house sustained moderate damage in the first storm and major damage in the second one. After both storms, Jim and a neighbor, Ron LaMontagne, drove down to Florida from Maine to make repairs on the house in order to prevent further damage. On both occasions they were joined by the Dalys` son, Jim, who was living in Miami at the time and drove up from there to help.

Adding to the stress of the residents caused by the hurricane damage were the frustrations of attempting to locate contractors and materials to effect permanent repairs. Ten months after Jeanne, Jim and Evelyn were still waiting for some fixes to take place.

Listed below are some hypertext links to photographs of hurricane damage in the Treasure Coast area in general and the Palm Lake Club community of Sebastian in particular.
